AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND: sala ayutthaya has released a special Historical Set Menu to give guests a taste of yesteryear. The set menu features traditional dishes dating back to the early 1600s and created with ancient recipes.
The four-course menu follows recent efforts by SALA Hospitality Group to further deepen its commitment to the culinary traditions of the destinations where its properties are located with the Taste of Place programme. Launched last year, Taste of Place is a celebration of the culinary customs of Thai food which vary greatly from region to region throughout the country, unearthing the unique flavours and cultural heritage accompanying the dishes.
Situated just an hour from Bangkok, the ancient capital of Ayutthaya has seen an influx of domestic travellers thanks to TV Channel 3’s popular prime-time drama series, Buppae Sanniwas (Love Destiny). The Thai government has also recently announced plans to develop Ayutthaya into a world-class destination for cultural tourism and to promote its UNESCO World Heritage status.
The Historical Menu at sala ayutthaya costs THB 1,800++ per couple, and is available for lunch and dinner at the eatery and bar by the river overlooking the historic Wat Phutthaisawan, one of the film locations for Buppae Sanniwas.
